Things are settling down at home, and we are starting to adjust to having a newborn in the home again.
Haylee has been so erratic. Sometimes she sleeps for 5 hour increments through the night, then sometimes she sleeps for 5 second increments.
I do have an awesome wife though, because she handles the majority of the babies needs. I am not good at diaper changes...and luckily I am responsible for very few. Rebecca doesn't make me get up too much to take care of Haylee when she screams. So truthfully I have it pretty easy. I do admit that it is still rough on me when she cries and screams at night. Those of you that read our He Says She Says posts also know that I have some bad habits right now at home. I wish I could blame it on Haylee, but I really can't do so in good conscience. Anyway, more about her. She has been more fussy with feeding than our other kids were. For the first couple days she didn't gain her weight back, and she threw up a couple of times. We, and by we I mean Rebecca, had to take her in almost daily for weigh ins. Everything is mostly okay now, she is keeping her food down, and has gained the weight she needed to gain. None of our kids have been "spit up" kids. So when Haylee was full on vomiting, it was new to us. Am I rambling? At least it is broken up a little by pictures, right?
Now Eli. Eli is signed up to play baseball. I think he will have a blast. It isn't much. They hit off a tee. Everyone gets to round all the bases, and they really don't keep score. That's all fine and good, except I don't play that way. I am going to keep score. I am going to be taunting the other teams of 4 year olds we play against. That's just the competitive parent in me. I may even teach Eli how to knock the catcher down while coming into home plate.
It may be the need for extra attention, or perhaps just the new adjustment for a new baby in the house, but both Tierra and Eli have been handfuls lately.
Have you guys experienced this? They have been extra whiny, disobedient, and quite insolent lately....compared to what we were use to before. Yes, I said insolent.
So on to Tierra. The prevalent thought in my mind about Tierra is that she starts Kindergarten next Fall. I don't know why this gets to me right now, especially when she just barely missed it last year, but it does. I can't believe it. I am not going to say that it makes me feel old or any of that BS, because it doesn't. It is just a different feeling to think that my daughter starts school soon. Perhaps the reason it hits home is because we have to plan vacations and family stuff now around a school schedule. At least somewhat.
Tierra has been taking a dance class as well. She loves it. She also loves skiing, though I have not taken her for about a month, for no reason at all. She wants to go again, and I really want to take her one more time this winter.....er....this ski season. I forget that the first day of Spring hasalready happened. She still loves preschool, as does Eli. They come home so excited from school and the activities and things they learn.
Both Tierra and Eli are huge movie buffs. They watch about 7 movies total, at least 3 times a week. Eli can almost quote bugs life from start to finish. They also enjoy watching Scrubs with me. I have been renting the seasons on DVD and watching them. Eli loves to sing along to the jingle at the opening credits, especially the line that says, "I'm no Superman."
I may have mentioned already that Rebecca is now in Young Women's. No more primary. She is excited for her calling with the punk girls of the ward. She is also excited to start running again with her neighborhood running ladies. She was one of the 10 people that went to the New Kids on the Block reunion concert(editors note: this was corrected from Backstreet Boys----my bad) a month or so ago. She went with her old roommate from Virginia, who is a Back Street Boy nutso. (Yes she reads this.) She also loves book club with the neighborhood women. She loves her TV shows. She loves me.
I have been skiing a ton. It makes it easy to do so with a season pass. Today was a sweet powder day.
One of the best days I have had this year. Not much else new with me. I work. I come home and waste a lot of time doing nothing, unless I ski for the day. I always write so much about me, that I am just going to be brief this time. Mysterious perhaps.
Added April 2nd: I forgot to mention that I got Rebecca with an old April Fool's joke so prevalent at the fire station... We were both up after midnight on the 31st, so technically April Fool's day, so I used a rubber band to hold the nozzle down on our sprayer in the sink, so when she turned the water on to fill up a bottle, she got soaked. Hilarious! Ask her about it.

First of all poor Rebecca, Jeff would do that to me all the time and it sucks when you are getting up to make a bottle cause most the time it ends up hitting the baby instead of you.
It is totally normal for your kids to act up when a new baby enters the home! My boys turned into tazmanian devils when we brought Lexi home. I think it has something to do with the 3rd child syndrome. everything gets caotic and hectic for the first 6 months and then they start to settle down.
As for the baseball thing I am so glad my sons are too old to play against Eli I think I would have to beat the crap out of you at the games cause your probably like Jeff way too competative and voices it very loudly. I won't sit near him at Drew's games.
Rebecca you are super woman cause no way would I do everything and not make Jeff take his turn too. I can't believe how good you look after just having a baby!! I love hangin with you at Book Club and in young womens you do an awesome job with the personal progress. That is a lot to deal with especially with a new baby.
Ahhhh, she is such a cutie. I can't wait til Mike and I start popping them out. It all just happened recently. Well like 2 weeks ago. My Iron had always been low but it got bad again. And now I'm just waiting to see the results. Takes forever but It's worth every min to get to my normal self again..
Okay...glad that you provided us all with an update. I miss your funny posts! You baby is SO cute!
Chad, I found your blog off of Patty's. Hope you don't mind. You're family is so cucte. Tierra looks just like Rebecca. I have a firm belief that we forget what the first year is of having a baby or we wouldn't have any more. I'm not much of a baby person, the baby phase (or as I like to call it "Baby Prison") is really hard on me. Trav sounds a lot like Rebecca, he mostly did all of the night-time stuff. I can handle days, but I need my sleep :). But, She is gorgeous and I'm sure very fun. Good Luck.
Also, Jenn Oviatt, I used to work with her at USANA. She told me she's in your ward. LOVE her. She's a sweetie.
No way in heck that is you skiing!!!
I love the picture of Tierra and Haylee.
Jack refuses to wear the underwear, they still have some scooby doo's!!!
Congrats on the baby! We are glad to hear she is doing well. Sorry we are a month late.
