Bog of Nothing

That's right, nothing.  We haven't done anything huge, gone anywhere significant, or reached any huge life milestones.  I wanted to just blog anyway and see what I come up with.

First off, I did something today I have never done in my life, to my recollection anyway.  I freaking struck out in slow pitch softball.
How freaking pathetic is that?  Seriously.  Who strikes out in softball?  Apparently I do.  I was beyond mad.  I was so mad that the rest of the game was nothing to me.  I missed an easy grounder in the infield right after striking out.  I have done that plenty of times, that doesn't bother me as much.  It didn't help that we got killed.
I think the final was 19 to 5.

We went, as a family, to the Bees game today.  Once a year, they play a non Sunday daytime game.
It was
Haylee's first game and I know if she could
speak she would be going on and on about how much she loves baseball games.
She would probably be talking so
much about it that we would be tired of hearing about it by now. Brent Locke and his family joined us.  That is his
oldest boy in the picture with Tierra and Eli.

For the first time in a long time I do not have my next MLB game specifically planned.  I want to do at least 2 more this year.  4 stadiums a year is not a far fetched goal is it?

Eli's baseball is going well.  It's actually a lot less involved than I imagined.
They only play about 2 innings, probably because the parents would lynch the little league corporation of they went any longer.  I am decided that 3 years old is a little bit too young to start.

We are all anxious and excited for summer.  I am sure pretty much the entire state of Utah is ready though.  What am I not ready for is the road construction.  Has anyone else noticed that they work on 201 and I-215 every year, whether they need it or not?

Work has been great.  We had a first-in house fire the other day.  Disclaimer:  I do not wish for anyone to have to experience the devastation of a fire in their home.  That said, I love being able to respond to any fire, since they have to happen.
I especially love being first in.  Actual house fires are not very frequent.  Divide the low number into the number of stations in the valley and each individual firefighter is lucky to get a couple a year.  (Again, I use the term lucky liberally.)
Not wishing them on anyone, we just want to make a difference when they do happen.  Fighting a fire is hard work, so intense, such a rush.

Haylee is growing big.  She is growing much faster and differently than our first two did.  It is a new thing for us to have a kid that is normal according to doctors and their charts.  She is wearing clothes now, at 3 months old, that Tierra was wearing at 9 months.

Tierra did dance, and had her obligatory Recital.  She loved it, but thankfully she told us she wants to take a break for a while and try other stuff.  She is anxious for swimming lessons this summer.  I promise I had nothing to do with that decision.  I will do my best to support my kids in whatever past time activities they choose.  Thank goodness I get a break from Dance Recitals for at least a little while.

Rebecca never wants me to say much about her on here.  She stays home with the kids all the time and makes everything run smooth.  She is our schedule keeper and keeps us on track.  She is wonderful about handling everything with the kids.  All I have to do is write the checks, and I am grateful for that.  She enjoys cooking and often has meals ready to go for all of us.  Our family is fortunate to have her for our Mom and Wife.

I think with that, I have covered all of us.  Hopefully I didn't bore you too much!  Let's do what Haylee does best...... Sleep!

Ha! I won!!! I love the blog. You turned nothing to say into a whole lot. Your family is so cute. There aren't many things in life that are funnier than watching a person strike out in slow pitch softball. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Thanks for the laugh.

Haley is yet another beautiful child! Glad things are going well for your guys. And I agree with you- Rebecca is amazing. Especially how she manages to look so dang good so soon after having a baby!

Haylee is so cute and looks like an exact mix of Eli and Tierra (inthe bottom photo anyway)
you dont have to disclaimer about house fires, I think it is great that there are people not scared to death to go into a fire to save everyone elses butts while risking their own......I would be a mess being married to one though.....that would be anxiety at its finest. Good luck with getting your games in.

Man, Chad, get someone to proof read your work! Even the title has a misspelling. ;P

HAYLEY IS SO CUTE! How about next time post a picture of the outfit I mailed her. (It's pink with a duck on it.)

Lastly, Chad, this line was really sweet: Our family is fortunate to have her for our Mom and Wife. :)

Thanks for blogging!

Allison

Correcting my error: proofread

Allison,
I intended for the title to be "Bog", versus blog... I consider it a creative play on words. What else would you suggest I correct... It all looks fine to me.

As for the outfit you mailed... we burned it.

Just kidding. I will see what I can do.

Cute family. Congrats on the fire. we had a house burn in our neighborhood. They are taking it down now and will rebuild. It's quite a process to observe.

Great update, cute kids and a wife who sounds like she spoils you! :) Good job, Simons. You've done well for yourself.

Who'd a thunk? :)

So when does your fireman calendar come out? There was a two alarm fire here not too long ago. We were in the car super fast to see.

Haylee is getting chubby. Love it.

Cute, cute family, Chad. I love the pics. Sounds like you have a lot more than nothing going on in life, though I know how that feels to feel like nothing is going on. When you stop and look, there really is a lot of everyday stuff we do.
