Some Things That I Like

Several years ago, Paul Newman (my roommate, not the actor- but equally as famous) introduced me to a song by a band called Brak. The song is called "I Like Hubcaps" and the lyrics are a collection of things this group claims to like. Things like cornbread, poptarts, but not corn starch. Legos, recess and eating pork and beans. Obviously hubcaps. He loves Pineapple upside down cake, but wonders why its upside down. Great song, and available on ITunes. It is with that song in mind that I make this post. I am not talking about things like family and friends and so on, those are all obvious. I am talking about In-N-Out Hamburgers.

The Draper store opened today, and we went at lunch time, waited the hour and 45 minutes, and loved every minute of it. In-N-Out has been a regular stop of ours on our many trips to California. Now we only have to drive to Draper, a mere 15 minutes. I have to admit, it was Rebecca's want and desire to go get a burger today. She wanted to camp out to be the first one in line. Perhaps for the West Jordan locations opening? Our kids love it too. I am not sure if they love it due to the association it has with Disneyland, or if they truly love it. With this store opening up so close to us, I am throwing out all hope and dreams of being thin again. The double double is such a delicious hamburger, especially when it is chased into my stomach with a strawberry shake, that I do not care to know the nutritional statistics. If I were to write a song like Brak did, the double double would be in the chorus.

I also like the primary teacher who sent my children home with "Secret Service" cut out hearts a couple of years ago. The idea behind these thing-a-ma-bobbers is that my children secretly do something for someone else without that person knowing. Then they leave these heart shaped papers that say "Secret Service" on them. The kids love doing things. They have made my bed and cleaned each others rooms often. I need to photocopy a thousand of these things.

Alright, so not quite as extensive as Brak's likes, but that's all I got for now. The debate as to whether or not it was worth it to wait in line for 1 hour and 45 minutes will happen on the other blog someday soon.

Nice observation, just the candy dish though.

I vote not worth it! But this does come from the girl that stood in line for an hour and a half at 2:00AM for $5 pj's at Gymboree during the midnight madness sale at the Outlets. THAT was totally worth it

So, my 7 year old brought some hearts home from primary too. But she just put them under my pillow, thinking that was enough. Lazy lady.

I love a good burger. There's a gourmet burger place that just opened here in Salem. It's the best! I hope your double double was worth the wait. Good food is worth the sacrifice.
