Okay, we are trying out this technology thing and upgrading our lives to blog ownership. Our family is gearing up for a busy summer that has actually already begun. First things first though. Please let us know if you like this, or would rather us just send out our random email newsletter. You can click the orange thing to be told whenever new posts are made. Or save it as a "favorite feed." Anyway, back to us.
Eli- Sneaking up on two years old (July 16th). Growing up so fast seemingly. He seems big. Keeping up with Tierra in all but height. He has developed this annoying habit of saying "what" after everything you say to him. After a few repeats he says, "Oh." He's past the crying part of nursery and goes semi-willingly now. He hasn't gotten into watching movies like Tierra did- and still does- at that age. He loves to follow me around with a toy lawn mower while I am mowing the yard. Other than that, just doing what two year olds do. He is super cute and has finally had a real haircut so, as Chad says, "he doesn't look like a girl anymore."
Tierra- Sneaking up on age 4. She's growing up mentally very fast. Translation- becoming quite the smart alleck. She says things to me like- " because I am a princess." "Silly daddy, that's not how mommy does it." Sometimes, though not as cute, she flat out just says, "No." She had a little incident in Las Vegas while there with Rebecca at the first of the month. Turns out she is allergic to Pistachios. We are waiting to get tests to see if it is anything else, but she had a violent aniphylactic reaction to pistachio ice cream. She spent a few hours in the hospital. Her lips got huge and she puked all over the Bellagio casino area. That was an isolated incident, but she still has that allergy we have to be careful with her whole life.
Rebecca- Is sneaking up on age 30. (!) She has been running 3 miles a day (3 times a week) and trying to get in shape. She is planning to run a 5k with her mom on the Fourth of July so that will be fun. The trip to Vegas with Tierra was fun until the Pistachio ice cream incident. As far as the rest of the summer, she and her brother Scott have been planning a family reunion for her Dad's side of the family that will take place in August. She's still having fun selling Modbe clothing and working in the Primary at church. She loves staying at home with the kids and doing fun stuff with them.
Chad- sneaking past 32. I still work in the office (and probably will for at least 2 years.) I would prefer working in the stations, but will take my turn and do my job in the office. It keeps me very busy and summer is getting busier. I am responsible for coordinating CERT classes (Community Emergency Response Teams), coordinating community events, parades, city parties, etc. Each of the UFA's member cities have some form of city celebration in the summer, so most of my weekends are spoken for by work. The ones I have left are spoken for by the Scout Troop. I just spent a week in Reno for a convention. I am a terrible gambler. Had I known when to walk away from Craps, I would have about 1200 more dollars than what I took with me, but I came home with plus 300. Part of the problem is that once convention meetings were out for the day there just wasn't anything to do.
We took another trip to Disneyland in May. The first week to be exact. Another fun time. We are now annual pass holders. We have another trip planned for November. It is pretty much our only major vacation these days, but it is so easy, everything is planned for you. The kids love it. On this last trip Tierra got to ride the Dumbo ride with Mickey Mouse. Mickey just showed up while we were in line and asked for a volunteer to ride with him. The first couple of kids turned him down. Tierra jumped at the chance. This was good for two reasons, 1- Tierra got to ride with Mickey. 2- I didn't have to ride the ride. We were down there the same time as some friends from work so we spent a lot of time with them. The fireworks show they do right now is awesome! Anyway, we are Disney junkies.
So that's our story. Enjoy the pictures. Spread the word- the Simons' family is now a blogging family.
